Medieval Foam Fighters

I heard from a shocked co-worker of mine about what happened to all of the people who couldn’t let Dudgeons & Dragons go… and I had to see it for myself to believe it. They gather at Mount Royal dressed in spectacular costumes and with huge weapons made out of foam. Then they line up and charge at each other in mock battles. It is a truly bizarre sight if you are unprepared. If the players are hit in a leg, they drop to one knee. If they are hit in the arm, they tuck it behind them. This is not just for the kids… grown men and the odd woman play too. If you can’t get enough of this, there is always the full weekend event, La Bataille de Bicolline or the dress-up festival, www.nouvellefrance.qc.ca (Quebec City).
